Initial Project Engagement

We first approach and have a collaboration with the air quality monitor company - Airthings. When they are introducing the air quality sensors to us, they told us that the sensors have joined RESET Air recently and that's how we learned of RESET Air. This is because RESET Air is one of the upcoming trends for air quality certification. Therefore, we recommended our client register the certification for RESET Air Commercial Interiors As the installation for the monitors in Airthings can be easily installed, no contractors are involved in the installation. The ICC building has been working on the BEAM Plus EB Version 2.0 where there are credits about the air quality. Therefore, I have been working with them while I am working on the registration of the RESET Air certification.

Accredited Monitors

As we have collaboration with Airthings, we choose the accredited monitors from them for the registration of the certification The overall experience is great as Monitors are easy to be used and installed. Moreover, the dashboard for Airthings has been connected to the RESET Cloud which makes the process of registration much easier They are actually not much learned with respect to finding qualified monitors. My personal opinion is that the accessor can first find the qualified monitors from the RESET website and find the projects the monitor has been involved in as a reference as it is clearly listed on the RESET website which is a very user-friendly approach.

Accredited Data Provider

As said above, the accredited data provider is also Airthings as the dashboard involved the function to send data to the RESET Cloud. The overall experience is great as I can easily export the data and the process of sending the data to RESET Cloud is provided by Airthings. They are actually not much learned with respect to a qualified data provider

Installation

The overall experience of the installation process for the monitors is great as the installation of the Airthings monitors is very simple. It included batteries that do not need the support of electricians. Moreover, it only needs Replacement Strips for the installation.

Performance Phase

The monitors are installed in September. After the installation, we have waited for a few weeks to ensure there are no malfunctions or unstable. Therefore, we started the measure of the performance on 1/10/2021. The whole project team were added into the dashboard which everyone can review the data anytime. Moreover, Airthings dashboard provide the function of generating different reports which we can understand the evaluate the air quality easily There are connection problems while we are installing the monitors but can be fixed after adjusting the locations of the hub and monitors. As it is a gym room, we expected the CO2 level is always high. However, the CO2 level is actually pretty low except the lunch hour. This means the ventilation of the gym room perform very well For the remediation measures, we have suggested the client to increase the ventilation rate in the lunch hour.

Solutions and Strategies

The performance of the air quality in the ICC gym room is pretty good. There are no special design approaches or strategies needed For the pursuit of RESET Air, there are different rooms included in the gym (e.g. pilates room, dance room, etc.) We then grouped all of these rooms into the same group - a multi-purpose room which we think is a strategy for the pursuit of RESET Air.
