RESET® is a data standard, accompanied by a set of assessment tools, created and managed by GIGA to develop actionable, long term strategies towards health and sustainability for the built environment. RESET focuses on creating a structure around data and analytics to generate opportunities for improvement and optimizations by combining the development of continuous monitoring and cloud software to increase the visibility of health and sustainability data in the built environment.

1. Our Purpose
RESET’s purpose is to help built environments become healthier and more sustainable.
RESET promotes data collection and continuous monitoring via standardization.
You cannot effectively solve what you cannot measure.
Data will be the key to building awareness and visibility towards the problems that we face and it will help us better engage with finding the right solutions to our problems.
2. The Vision
RESET is starting with measuring and monitoring with a mission to facilitate the monitoring and analyzing of data for all buildings globally. We believe that data will be the key to building awareness towards the problems that we face and it will help us better engage with finding solutions to our problems. We want to be involved in the leading edge of technology in making spaces healthier for occupants and the wider environment.
How does the built environment become more sustainable with the lowest cost and effort?
That is the question we asked ourselves when we started RESET.
Phase 0 - Continuous Monitoring
From 2014 to 2020, we were in Phase 0, where we tried to better understand the value of continuous monitoring for the built environment. With continuous monitoring, we took what was typically a one dimensional picture and made it two dimensional by including time to better understand performance over time.
Phase 1 - Data Transparency
The core of our vision is data transparency. Data transparency is achieved by standardizing the way that data is collected and then incentivized by assessment tools and services that can provide economic value for the investors. Data collection and transparency are the keys to better operations, actionable plans, and optimized solutions.
Phase 2 - Analytics & Benchmarking
Operating in conjunction with Phase 1, analytics and benchmarking tools and services will be built create additional value out of the data collected. Due to the lack of continuous monitoring, data collection, and data transparency for health and sustainability in the built environment, most of the opportunities around data analytics and benchmarking have yet to be unlocked.
Phase 3 - Affecting Policy
In the long run, we hope to leverage the data, analytics, and benchmarking to affect policy. This can be internal policy makers in an organization or public policy makers of a city or government. With access to actionable and comprehensive data, RESET provides a structure and strategy for policy makers to make the best decisions.
3. What does RESET mean?
RESET is an acronym for "Regenerative Ecological, Social, and Economic Targets". RESET's vision is to create a future for measurably regenerative built environments with a focus on three pillars: ecological, social, and economic.
Ecological
Ecological is in reference to the global environment, including the flora and fauna which rely on the ecology of the planet being stable and sustainable. The lack of regard for the ecology and environment around us, while prioritizing profit, industry, and development, has led to negative repercussions and lasting damage.
RESET believes we have a responsibility to protect our planet. Regenerative design and implementation of healthy and sustainable built environments will play a large role in regenerating the ecology of the world.
Social
Social is in reference to people, the community, and society in general. Linked to our ecological concerns is the issue of providing healthy spaces for occupants.
We spend 90% of our time in indoor spaces and built environments, but most of these spaces are not designed with human health in mind due to a lack of knowledge and understanding. Leveraging data and analytics, RESET believes that we can transform indoor spaces and the built environment into health regenerating havens for their occupants.
Economic
Economic is in reference to the economy. RESET understands that the only way to successfully make ecological and social impact is to simultaneously make economic impact. Otherwise, there will be no investment into pursuing the ecological and social benefits.
RESET is constantly exploring economic benefits, seeking out opportunities and value in productivity, liability, additional services, and/or market and sourcing efficiencies, with the goal of creating value and ROI for the organizations and businesses that invest in our ecological and social future.
To create a future where the built environment regenerates the ecological, the social, and the economic, RESET will continue to design and propose targets that will nudge the industry in that direction.
